Gps Grading — Why It Matters

Define the finished purpose, reference levels, underlying material condition and the evidence required by the receiving operation. Geometry alone does not establish structural or agronomic performance.

This reference assembles relevant extracts from the guide library. It is general project planning, not a local project report, verified specification or translated technical publication.

Why Water Returns After Grading

Water that returns to a repaired depression may indicate an unchanged outlet control, continuing inflow or settlement. Treat the recurrence as new evidence rather than simply repeat the same pass.

Before moving material

Compare the repaired levels with the drainage route and water observations.

Receiving operation and checks

Observe another suitable rainfall or irrigation event. Record where and when water reappears.

Subsurface and hydraulic causes may need specialist assessment.

GPS Land Grading

GPS-based grading uses positioning information in relation to a design or reference surface. Ordinary navigation positioning should not be treated as a precision earthworks control system.

Before moving material

Identify the positioning equipment, corrections and design requirements.

Receiving operation and checks

Verify the achieved surface separately. Record correction status and any loss of usable positioning during work.

A satellite receiver alone does not establish vertical grading accuracy.

Tractor GPS Grading

A tractor used for GPS grading needs both a suitable implement combination and a functioning positioning workflow. The tractor's navigation system may not control the scraper's grading function.

Before moving material

Identify tractor, implement and proposed guidance equipment.

Receiving operation and checks

Verify both tractor tracking and resulting grade. Check the cutting-edge reference rather than assuming the tractor antenna represents the surface.

Autosteer compatibility is not the same as implement grade-control compatibility.

Record the job inputs

Use this checklist to turn the scenario into a specific brief. Retain the design revision and agree who accepts each completed layer.

Checklist ticks apply only while this page is open. Include the completed brief in your project records.
